Whispering Woods Sensory Room

Welcome to the Whispering Woods Sensory Room at Cheriton Fitzpaine Primary School and Nursery. This new addition to the school was installed in March 2026, with funding from The Wooden Spoon Charity and PTA donations.

This calm, inviting space is designed to support young children as they explore sounds, textures, and gentle visual experiences in a safe and reassuring environment. The room encourages children to build confidence, relax their bodies, and engage at their own pace.

Our Sensory room offers carefully chosen activities that can help children regulate emotions and manage everyday sensory input. For some children, sensory experiences can feel overwhelming, while for others they may need more stimulation to stay focused and settled. Staff use the room to support wellbeing and learning through play, helping children feel secure and ready to participate.

We consider individual SEN needs, ensuring that support is tailored to each child’s requirements. Parents can be reassured that our approach is inclusive and responsive, with activities selected to match communication, sensory preferences, and developmental stages.
